The Best Memes of 2022 (So Far)
Memes have become the lifeblood of online discourse and our emotional comfort during times of distress…often caused by online discourse. Memes aren’t fading, they’re scaling up. From Kanye to the Super Bowl, to that slap heard across the universe, 2022 is coming in hot.
A few Lemonade team members gathered around to discuss the newest wave of viral memes. Here is our list of top memes of 2022—so far.
Green M&M
The candy powerhouse, Mars, was criticized for the green M&M’s sexy appearance, prompting M&M to change the character so it will be, “Better represented to reflect confidence and empowerment, a strong female, and known for much more than her boots.” Hey, there’s nothing wrong with celebrating a sexy pair of boots. I love sneakers, but I probably won’t remember Green’s new generic image. She went from Euphoria High to Techie High. There is nothing wrong with either school, but better luck next time, Mars!
Julia Fox x It’s Always Sunny
Kanye has had quite a year (we say this every year). He took no time to make headlines post–Kim and dragged along his latest fashion victim, Julia Fox. If you haven’t heard of her, she is an Italian actress who made a notable performance in Uncut Gems (or as she calls it “Uncut Jaaams”). If you haven’t heard of Mac from Always Sunny, stop what you are doing and watch “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia” right now.

Slap Heard Around the World
We do not condone violence, but this slap cannot be ignored. People are talking about it virtually everywhere—and while the scene was incredibly awkward and uncomfortable, the memes helped alleviate some of the unfortunate tension.
So, enjoy one on us, and let’s move on from the public mental breakdown to something more positive. We wish both parties well!
Kim Kardashian x Pete Davidson
Unless you live under a rock, you have heard of the love triangle between Pete Davidson, Kim Kardashian and Kanye West. Pistol Pete has Travis Barker and Kourtney Kardashian to thank for influencing Kim to walk on the wild side.
50 Cent at the Super Bowl
The Super Bowl was a treat to kick off 2022. Kanye West’s stunts were very out there—and he was just sitting in the audience.
The halftime show featured 50 Cent, Snoop Dogg, Mary J. Blige, Kendrick Lamar, Dr. Dre and Eminem. While Kanye West likely wished he were performing with these Hip Hop legends, 50 Cent likely wished he skipped the performance.
As he hung from the ceiling, audiences forgot that his dangling was a throwback to his 2003. the music video,” In Da Club.” Twenty years later, 50 Cent was not prepared for the performance and his peers upstaged him. But luckily the performance won’t be forgotten—endless memes were created to honor such an event!
Wordle
For those who aren’t as game-fluent, Wordle is a web-based game where you have six chances to guess a five-letter word. People love the game so much that it has become a meme phenomenon.
Yassification
The meme that best embraces the year is “yassification.” "Yassifying" refers to the filter that beautifies something, typically historic or unappealing. The Girl with the Pearl Earring and Toni Colette are both beautiful creatures, but no one is harmed with a quick yassification.
