When video game titan Square Enix approached Lemonade, they came to us with an interesting dilemma. With much of their core social media engagement happening on smaller social media accounts under their umbrella focused on individual games or franchises, what role should the main Square Enix social media brand accounts play in their overall strategy?

With this question in mind, Lemonade set to work creating new social media content streams. We worked closely with Square Enix to develop a full complement of ideas for evergreen, engagement-focused content that celebrates Square Enix’s rich history and connection with fans.

Through a consistent and iterative process, taking into account both internal Square Enix goals and fan feedback, we used our intricate knowledge of the dedicated gaming audience to devise and evolve ways to engage with Square Enix’s fans and create brand-affirming interactions. We created trivia, memes, and anniversary celebrations that draw on fans’ appreciation for Square Enix’s decades-long history, as well as calls to share user-generated content on dedicated hashtags for even more interactivity.

Our team’s dedication and versatility really shone through during an ambitious Twitter Takeover strategy to promote the Square Enix-published “Little Goody Two Shoes” game. With only two weeks to write and develop, we delivered a content plan that created over 31,000 Twitter interactions and increased the game’s Discord membership by over 17% in a single day.
